Introducción: La fibrosis quística es la enfermedad genética letal más frecuente en<br/>la población infantil caucásica. Desde el momento del nacimiento, el paciente con<br/>fibrosis quística debe instaurar, de forma preventiva, un tratamiento que mantenga<br/>su calidad de vida. Dentro del marco multidisciplinar, la Fisioterapia respiratoria es<br/>un pilar esencial en el tratamiento y sus efectos en el funcionamiento pulmonar.<br/>Objetivos: Analizar los estudios existentes respecto al tratamiento de Fisioterapia<br/>respiratoria en niños con fibrosis quística. Analizar la consistencia de los resultados<br/>en los diferentes estudios evaluando su calidad metodológica. Confrontar los<br/>resultados obtenidos por los diferentes autores y analizarlos, a fin de concluir si<br/>estas técnicas son efectivas y eficientes en el manejo de la enfermedad.<br/>Metodología: Se escogieron ensayos clínicos aleatorizados que hicieran mención a<br/>pacientes con fibrosis quística en cualquier estadío de la enfermedad y enmarcados<br/>dentro del ámbito de la fisioterapia pediátrica. Se realizó una búsqueda electrónica<br/>de artículos en las siguientes bases de datos: Pubmed, Scielo, PEDro y The<br/>Cochrane Library Plus.<br/>Resultados: Se seleccionaron 12 estudios para realizar la revisión. La calidad<br/>metodológica de los artículos se evaluó según la escala PEDro, incluyendo en esta<br/>revisión artículos con un mínimo de 6 puntos de evidencia en dicha escala.<br/>Conclusión: Los estudios recogidos demuestran la efectividad de la Fisoterapia<br/>respiratoria en la expectoración de secreciones y mejora de la calidad de vida, sin<br/>embargo, no se consigue demostrar que los parámetros de función pulmonar<br/>mejoren con un tratamiento de Fisioterapia respiratoria. Se recomenda en un futuro,<br/>realizar más estudios que abarquen el tratamiento multidisciplinar del paciente. |

Introduction: Cystic fibrosis is the most common lethal genetic disease among<br/>caucasian children population. From the time of birth, patient with cystic fibrosis must<br/>introduce, preventively, a treatment for the sustaining of quality of life. From the<br/>multidisciplinary framework, chest physiotherapy is an essential part in treatment and<br/>effects in the pulmonary functions.<br/>Objetives: To analyze existing studies respect to the treatment of chest<br/>physiotherapy in children with cystic fibrosis. To analyze the consistency of results<br/>across studies assessing methodological quality. Compare the results obtained by<br/>differents authors and analyzed in order to conclude whether the techniques are<br/>effective and efficient in managing the disease.<br/>Methodology: Randomized clinical trials that make mention of cystic fibrosis patients<br/>at any stage of the disease and framed within the field of pediatric physiotherapy<br/>were chosen. An electronic search of articles was made on the following databases:<br/>Pubmed, PEDro, Scielo and The Cochrane Library Plus.<br/>Results: 12 studies were selected for review, all randomized clinical trials. The<br/>methodological quality of the articles was assessed according to the PEDro scale,<br/>including articles in this review with a minimum of 6 points of evidence on the scale.<br/>Conclusion: The collected studies show effectiveness of chest physiotherapy in<br/>secretion expectoration and improvement of the quality of life, however, it fails to<br/>demonstrate that the parameters of lung function improve with treatment of chest<br/>physiotherapy. It is recommended in the future to do more studies involving the<br/>multidisciplinary treatment of the patient. |
