Summary, etc.

Summary, etc. Objectives: to compare group physiotherapy and individual treatment in shoulder rotator cuff tendinopathy. Material and method: prospective randomized clinical trial pilot study. 27 patients were included in the study, although 2 were excluded. The 25 patients finally included were divided into 2 groups: individual treatment (n = 13) of 15 combined kinesitherapy and electrotherapy sessions; and group treatment (n = 12), of 5 shoulder school sessions. All patients were diagnosed with rotator tendinopathy by the Rehabilitation Service of the Reina Sofía University Hospital (Córdoba, Spain), between June and September 2010. The groups were tabulated according to age and sex. All patients underwent the DASH (Shortened Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand) functional assessment. The inclusion criteria were tendinitis, tendinosis and subacromial syndrome; excluding total tendon rupture and glenohumeral instability. Results: both treatments showed significant improvement (p < 0.001) compared to the initial situation, while no differences were found in the comparison between groups. Conclusions: both treatments induce the same level of improvement and therapeutic efficacy. This would support the use of group Physiotherapy in the field of Public Health, reducing the cost/patient
