N2  - La enfermería ha ido evolucionando de forma paralela al desarrollo de la humanidad,
al igual que el concepto de cuidado. Dependiendo de la época que se estudie se
observa que el concepto de salud y enfermedad varía, y solían estar influenciados por
las creencias religiosas, la superstición y los fenómenos naturales de cada cultura y
sociedad, hasta los últimos tiempos que ya se limitan a los conceptos científicos.
El objetivo del presente trabajo es dar a conocer la historia de la enfermería y la
evolución de los cuidados en España, así como la transformación de la figura de la
matrona, de su formación y de las distintas técnicas de asistencia al parto.
El método utilizado para realizar el trabajo ha sido el histórico, en concreto el
cronológico. Se han usado distintas fuentes documentales, tanto físicas como
electrónicas, para recoger la información necesaria.
Se pretende dar una visión general y objetiva de dichos acontecimientos haciendo un
recorrido por las diferentes etapas que se han ido desarrollando conforme han ido
evolucionando ambas profesiones.
El oficio de matrona, al igual que la enfermería, ha sufrido distintos procesos evolutivos
tanto en su formación, como en las técnicas que se han utilizado para asistir los partos.
Se han analizado todos ellos para poder comprender la principal función actual de
estas enfermeras especialistas y el porqué de la unificación de esta profesión con la
carrera de enfermería.
Tras finalizar la recogida de información y de desarrollar el trabajo, todos los objetivos
establecidos se han cumplido; Nursing has been evolved at the same time that the development of humanity and the
concept of care. Depending on the time studied, it is observed that the concept of
health and disease varies, these terms used to be influenced by religious beliefs,
superstition and the natural phenomena of each culture and society, until nowadays
that are already limited to scientific concepts.
The objective of this work is to present the history of nursing and the evolution of care
in Spain, as well as the evolution of the midwife, their training and the different
techniques of assistance to childbirth.
The method used to carry out the work has been historical, specifically chronological.
Different documentary sources, both physical and electronic, have been used to collect
the necessary information.
It is hoped to give a general and objective overview of these events by taking a tour of
the different stages, that have been developed, as they have evolved both professions.
The profession of midwife, like nursing, has been changing in two different ways: in
their training, as much as in the techniques that has been used to assist births. All of
them have been studied to understand the main role of these specialist nurses and the
reason for the unification of this studies with the nursing career.
After completing the collection of information and developing the proyect, all the
established targets have been achieved
