Summary: Introduction: thanks to the entry into force of the Royal Decree-Law 9/2011 of 19 August, the new medicine prescription by active ingredient was introduced which has created an important saving in the National Health Sevice. However, various confusions have been described in the polymedicated elderly patient because of the great similarity in the medicine displays regarding colour, size and shape. Furthermore, there are now people who question the effectiveness of these medicines, specially because of the excipient quality that each laboraty adds to the generic medicine. Objectives: the general objective proposed in this paper is to describe the impact that the active ingredient medicine implantation has caused to the polymedicated elderly patient and/or to the chronic patient by identifying the potential difficulties that can arise while recognizing these medicines because of their rotation and their similar display. Material and method: descriptive, observational, transverse and quantitative study accomplished through the carrying out of structured interviews and surveys in the Tetuán district. The sample size of the patients over 65 is 201 individuals. Moreover, 83 interviews were delivered to doctors and 104 to pharmacists these area. Results: 201 patients participated, in addition to 62 doctors and 79 pharmacists. Women found more dificulties when consuming generic medicines and 33.3% of the elderly people admitted that they had some difficulties when taking these medicines 62.9% of the doctors and 72.2% of pharmacists assure there was a lot of confusion. Conclusion: the variability of the characteristics of the generic medicines can make more difficult the therapeutic compliance. To avoid any problem in elderly patients it would be importan to unify the display of the different generic pharmaceutical equivalents, avoiding part of the non-therapeutic adhesion and the possible negative effectsItem type | Current library | Collection | Call number | Copy number | Status | Date due | Barcode |
