El caso clínico trata sobre la dificultad de la combinación de la esquizofrenia y la diabetes mellitus en cuanto al manejo efectivo del régimen terapéutico. La intervención de enfermería elaboró un plan de cuidados individualizado (PCI). Para la recogida de datos se realizó una valoración de enfermería basada en las 14 necesidades de Virginia Henderson, se identificaron diagnósticos de enfermería (DdE), planificando los criterios de resultados (NOC) y las intervenciones de enfermería (NIC).
