La Enfermería asturiana ha contribuido socialmente a la ayuda y mejora de la situación de la salud en Asturias. También ha aportado, en el ámbito nacional, unos de los primeros manuales de enseñanza (María Neira de Terreros en la Cruz Roja), y líderes de Enfermería como Teresa Junquera y el modelo profesional de Enfermería implantado en 1961 en el Hospital General de Asturias con la organización de la atención de Enfermería en tres turnos, la creación de las unidades de Enfermería y la utilización de registro de constantes y cuidados en las historias clínicas. <br/><br/>En el proceso de profesionalización de la Enfermería en Asturias se pueden identificar tres etapas diferentes: empírico-vocacional (1830-1977), seglar técnica (1857-1953) y de acción social (1915-1953), y como agente de cambio (1954-1977). <br/><br/>A partir de 1977, y tras el acceso a la Universidad, la Enfermería logró los ingredientes para considerarse una profesión moderna tal y como se entiende hoy en día (autonomía, pericia distintiva y control sobre la práctica y la formación universitaria, además de un código deontológico que regula las relaciones entre los profesionales y los usuarios). <br/> |

Nursing in Asturias as an occupation, has contributed socially to help and improve the regional health issues. The popularity of this collective stands out, as demonstrated by a few streets named after nurses and medical assistants. It has also contributed, in the national field, with one of the first teaching manuals (María Neira de Terreros at the Red Cross). Also leaders of the nursing field such as Teresa Junquera, and a professional model implanted in 1961 at the General Hospital of Asturias with the organization of the care giving of nurses in three shifts, the creation of the nursing units and the use of constant registry of patients and medical histories.<br/><br/>In the complex process of the professional instruction of nursing in Asturias, one can observe structural ruptures and continuations composing three very specific periods of intelligibility with their own characteristics; An empirical-vocational one (1830-1977), a secular and technical period (1857-1953) and a social action period (1915-1953), and as an agent of change (1954-1977).<br/><br/>Since 1977, and after the access to universities, nursing achieved the necessary means to be considered a modern profession in the terms established in this thesis (autonomy, distinctive expertise and control over the practice and university training, as well as of a code of ethics which regulates the relationship between the professional and the patient).<br/> |
