Introducción: En el entorno de la discapacidad física, la lesión medular es una de las deficiencias más importantes, representados por personas jóvenes. Por ello, se debe iniciar campañas de prevención en los colegios dirigidas a los niños y adolescentes.<br/>El objetivo principal radica en identificar cuál es la percepción que tienen los alumnos de 2º de la E.S.O. de un colegio de la Comunidad de Madrid sobre los lesionados medulares a través de una simulación.<br/>Material y Métodos: El presente estudio trata de una investigación cuantitativa de tipo descriptivo y de corte transversal, correspondiente a 78 alumnos de 2º de la E.S.O. del colegio Ártica. La actividad consistió en una breve charla informativa de la lesión medular y la prevención de accidentes, junto con la realización de tres actividades deportivas. Tras esto, se proporcionó un cuestionario autoadministrado a los participantes.<br/>Resultados: La percepción predominante al sentarse en la silla de ruedas fue de limitación (41%), seguido de una sensación buena (31%). Frente a las conductas de riesgo se destacan: montar en bici y en moto sin casco (96% - 21%), cruzar con un semáforo en rojo (92%), viajar con un conductor hablando por el teléfono móvil (55%) y viajar con un conductor que ha bebido alcohol (42%). Por último con un 51% se determinó que la actividad cambiaba la conducta del día a día de los participantes. <br/>Conclusiones: Los jóvenes que participaron en el estudio se sintieron limitados ante el uso de la silla de ruedas, aunque valoraron la experiencia de forma positiva. En la adolescencia se crean estilos, hábitos y personalidades que pueden presentar consecuencias dañinas sobre el bienestar y la salud en un futuro<br/> |

Introduction: In the environment of physical disability, spinal cord injury is one of the most important impairments, represented by young people. Therefore, prevention campaigns must be started in schools targeting children and teenagers.<br/>The main goal is to identify what is the perception on spinal injuries of students in the 2nd grade of E.S.O. from a school of Madrid, through a simulation.<br/>Material and Methods: This study is a quantitative, descriptive and cross-section research corresponding to 78 students of 2nd grade of E.S.O. from Ártica school. The activity consisted of a short lecture of spinal cord injuries and accident prevention, along with the fulfillment of three physical exercises. After that, a self-administered questionnaire was provided to the participants.<br/>Results: The prevailing perception when sitting in the wheelchair was limited (41%), followed by a good feeling (31%). Regarding risk behaviors, are included: cycling and motorcycling without a helmet (96% - 21%), crossing with a red light (92%), travelling with a driver talking on the phone (55%) and travelling with a drunk driver (42%). Finally 51% determined that the activity changed the daily life habits of the participants.<br/>Conclusions: Young people who participated in the study felt limited to the use of a wheelchair, although they rated the experience positively. In the adolescence are created styles, habits and personalities that may have harmful consequences for the welfare and health in the future<br/> |
