• Introducción: El síndrome de burnout es un tipo de estrés prolongado motivado por la sensación que produce la realización de esfuerzos que no se ven compensados personalmente. Se suele dar en trabajos que implican<br/>el trato con personas e importantes exigencias emocionales en la relación interpersonal resultando un deterioro,<br/>desgaste o pérdida de empatía. Se caracteriza por agotamiento emocional (AE), despersonalización (DP) y ausencia de sentimientos de realización personal (RP).<br/>• Objetivo: Comparativa y análisis del síndrome burnout entre el personal de enfermería en cardiología de dos<br/>hospitales de tercer nivel.<br/>• Método: Estudio descriptivo observacional sobre una muestra de 71 profesionales durante enero de 2010.<br/>Recogida de variables sociodemográficas y laborales, Cuestionario Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) y valoración<br/>centrada en aspectos específicos en unidad de cardiología.<br/>• Resultados: Se formaron dos grupos de profesionales, unidad A (42) y B (29). Los resultados del MBI mostraron: alteración de una subescala, 44’44%/100% (trabajadores menores de 30 años), 100%/50% (entre 30-40<br/>años), un 73’33%/100% (mayores de 50 años), el 100%/75% (entre 6-10 años en el servicio), el 85’71%/100%<br/>(turno noche), el 66’6%/84’9% (enfermeras) y 80%/50% (auxiliares de enfermería). Un 11,90%/58’62% obtuvieron<br/>puntuación alta en la subescala de RP, un 16,66%/10’34% en la DP y un 30,95%/13’79% en AE. Respecto a la<br/>afectación de los profesionales en situaciones especificas destacaron: “familiares” (44’82%/30’34%), “presión de<br/>ingresos/traslados de otros servicios” (35’86%/24’13%), “formación fuera del horario laboral” (31’72%/19’31%), “trabajar fines de semana” (17’93%/29’65%) y “la poca adhesión del equipo interdisciplinar” (31’72%/15’86%).<br/>• Conclusiones: El personal de enfermería es vulnerable de presentar niveles altos de burnout, por ello creemos necesaria la creación de programas de prevención en el ámbito laboral. Cabe destacar que ningún aspecto específico de la unidad de Cardiología influyó significativamente, por lo que nuestro estudio es extrapolable al<br/>resto de unidades. |

• Introduction: The burnout syndrome is a type of long stress due to the feeling produced by carrying out efforts that are not personally rewarded. It’s usually seen in jobs involved in people dealing and great emotional requirements in the interpersonal relationship coming up an impairment, erosion or loss of empathy. It’s characterized by emotional exhaustion (EE), depersonalization (DP) and lack of personal fulfilment feelings (PF).<br/>• Objective: Comparative and analysis of the burnout syndrome among the cardiology staff nursing of two tertiary hospitals.<br/>• Method: Descriptive, observational study of a sample of 71 professionals during January 2010. Labour, social and demographics data collection, Questionnaire Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and assessment focused on specific aspects of cardiology division.<br/>• Results: There were two groups of workers, division A (42) and B (29). The MBI showed: alteration of a subscale, 44’44 % vs. 100 % (under 30-year-old workers), 100% vs. 50% (between 30-40 years), 73’33 % vs. 100 % (older than 50 years), 100% vs. 75% (between 6-10 years in the division), 85’71 % vs. 100% (nightshift), 66’6 % vs. 84’9 % (nurses) and 80% vs. 50% (nursing auxiliary). Up to 11’90% vs. 58’ 62% got a high score in PF subscale, 16’66% vs. 10’34 % in the DP and 30’95% vs.13’79 % in EE. Regarding the workers’ affectation in specific scenarios it has to be highlighted: “relatives” (44’’82% vs. 30’34%), “pressure from admissions/transfers from other divisions” (35’86% vs. 24’13 %), “training out of the labour time” (31’72% vs.19’31%), “working weekends” (17’93% vs. 29’65 %) and “the limited support of the interdisciplinary team“ (31’72% vs. 15’86 %).<br/>• Conclusions: Nursing staff is prone to show high levels of burnout, from what we think its necessary the creation of prevention programs in the labour field. It has to be emphasized that no specific aspect of the Cardiology unit influenced in a significant way, from what our study is comparable to the rest of units. |
