La consolidación científica de la Fisioterapia en España ya es un hecho. Sin embargo, no son pocas las dificultades que la Fisioterapia española ha encontrado en su desarrollo y consolidación como disciplina de conocimiento científico. El presente trabajo tiene como principal objetivo describir desde una perspectiva narrativa el proceso de transformación de la Fisioterapia en España desde su origen como disciplina técnico-profesional, hasta su consolidación hoy como disciplina de conocimiento científico. Centraremos por tanto nuestro análisis en los diferentes hechos históricos: profesionales, académicos y científicos, y cómo estos han permitido el cambio definitivo de paradigma, permitiendo a la Fisioterapia superar la fase pre-paradigmática (característica de las disciplinas precientíficas) para acceder a la fase paradigmática (periodo de ciencia normal) con la que toda disciplina inicia su actividad como ciencia. La línea argumental del presente trabajo toma como referencia, el modelo de explicación y de ciencia basado en la obra de Thomas Kuhn. Kuhn que contribuyó a fomar una idea de "ciencia" que resaltaba su índole como actividad humana: es decir, la dotó de carácter histórico e insertada en un medio social. La propuestade Kuhn se basa en que la ciencia es una actividad sometida a cambios históricos, de manera que el nacimiento de una disciplina, su desarrollo y sus modificaciones no siguen en principio pautas lógicas, sino que tienen lugar en un contexto histórico (siempre variable) y están sometidas a oscilaciones teóricas y prácticas |

The scientific consolidation of Physiotherapy in Spain is a fact. However, Spanish Physiotherapy has found several difficulties in its development and consolidation as a discipline of scientific knowledge. This paper's main objective is to describe, from a narrative perspective, the process of transformation of physiotherapy in Spain from its origin as a technical-professional discipline, to its present conso/idation as a discipline of scientific knowledge. Therefore, our analysis will be concentrated on different historical facts: professional, academic and scientific, and how these facts have allowed the definitive change of paradigm, allowing physiotherapy to go beyond the pre-paradigmatic phase (pre-scientific disciplines feature) to access the paradigmatic phase (normal science period), necessary for every discipline when starting its activity as a science. The storyline of this paper is based on the model of explanation and science from the work of Thomas Kuhn. Kuhn helped to develop an idea of «science" that high lighted its nature as a human activity: that is, he envolved it with a historical nature inserted in a social environment.<br/><br/>Kuhn's propasal is based on the fact that science is an activity subject to historical change, so that the birth of a discipline, its development and modification are not ruled by logical patterns, but they take place in a historical context (ever-changing) and they are subject to theoretical and practical changes |
