Objetivo: La influencia de las fases lunares en el desencadenamiento del parto es un tema ampliamente discutido y que suscita gran interés entre las matronas, aunque pocas veces ha sido analizado por ellas. En el presente estudio se pretende comprobar si la luna ejerce algún efecto sobre el inicio de los partos espontáneos, como popularmente se cree. Personas, material y método: En el estudio, de tipo descriptivo, se analizaron 2.137 partos de inicio espontáneo que tuvieron lugar en el Hospital Universitario Príncipe de Asturias (Alcalá de Henares, Madrid) durante 12 ciclos lunares del año 2007. Resultados: Se ha estudiado la influencia de la luna tanto en el día exacto de cada fase (luna llena, cuartos creciente y menguante, y luna nueva) como en los dos días anteriores y posteriores al día exacto de cada fase, así como, por último, en cada fase completa, es decir, de luna llena a cuarto menguante, de cuarto menguante a luna nueva, de luna nueva a cuarto creciente y de cuarto creciente a luna llena. También se ha estudiado la relación de la fase lunar con el comienzo diurno o nocturno del parto y con la paridad. En ninguno de los casos se han encontrado diferencias significativas. Conclusiones: Los resultados del presente trabajo demuestran que ninguna fase lunar aumenta el número de partos |

Objective: The influence of the moon phases in the delivery unleash is a subject widely discussed and that arouses great interest among the midwives, although not very often it has been analyzed by them. The intention of this study is to verify if the moon exerts some effect on the starting of the spontaneous deliveries as it is usually believed. People/Material and method: In the descriptive type study, 2137 starting spontaneous delivery were analyzed that took place H.U. Príncipe de Asturias (Alcalá de Henares, Madrid), during 12 moon cycles of year 2007. Results: The influence of the moon has been studied both on the exact day of each phase (full moon, first and last quarter, and new moon), and on the previous and later days of each phase, and finally in each complete phase, that is to say: from full moon to last quarter, from last quarter to new moon, new moon to first quarter and from first quarter to full moon.The moon phase has also been related to the day or night starting of the delivery, and to the gravidity. Relevant differences have not been found in any of the cases. Conclusions: The results of this work demonstrate that no moon phase increases the number of deliveries. |
