Objetivos: Evaluar la capacidad del plan de nacimiento de un ámbito territorial para mejorar el conocimiento de las gestantes sobre: 1. El proceso de parto; 2. Favorecer la comunicación con la matrona de la sala de parto; 3. Determinar la comprensibilidad, y 4. Las carencias del plan de nacimiento, así como el grado de cumplimiento de las preferencias<br/>indicadas en el mismo (5).<br/>Material y método: Estudio transversal. En su primera visita de puerperio se administró un cuestionario a las mujeres que habían cumplimentado el plan de nacimiento del ámbito territorial.<br/>Resultados: La muestra final del estudio fue de 204 mujeres. El 58,4% de las mujeres afirmaron que el plan de nacimiento las ayudó a resolver dudas y a mejorar su conocimiento en relación con el proceso de parto.<br/>De las mujeres que entregaron el plan de nacimiento el día del parto, el 65,5% lo valoró como una herramienta útil de comunicación con la matrona de la sala de partos, y en el 71,1% se cumplieron las preferencias indicadas. En cuanto a la comprensibilidad, cabe destacar como términos no comprendidos los de «monitorización» y «administración de enema».<br/>Las carencias detectadas hacían referencia a la falta de información sobre la cesárea y la donación de sangre de cordón.<br/>Conclusiones: El plan de nacimiento actual es percibido positivamente por las madres para mejorar sus conocimientos generales relacionados con el proceso de parto, y además permite mejorar la comunicación con el profesional que atiende el trabajo de parto. El cumplimiento de las preferencias indicadas es bueno. Aun así, se constata la necesidad de una actualización del plan de nacimiento para mejorar su comprensibilidad y subsanar las carencias detectadas para adaptarlo a las necesidades de las mujeres y sus familiares |

Objectives: To evaluate the ability of a birth plan to improve the<br/>knowledge of pregnant women on the giving birth process (1), encourage communication with the assisting midwives in the delivery room (2), determine the understanding of the birth plan (3), its gaps of information (4), and the degree of compliance of the preferences previously<br/>indicated in it (5).<br/>Material and method: Cross sectional study. Women who had filled in the birth plan were invited to answer a questionnaire in her first postpartum visit.<br/>Results: The final sample of the study was 204 women. The birth plan helped to resolve doubts and improve the knowledge regarding the birth process to 58.4% of the women. Of the women who give the birth plan on the day of delivery, 65.5% rated it as a useful tool for communicating with the midwife in the delivery room, and 71.1% met the indicated preferences. Regarding the comprehensibility, the terms less<br/>understood were the monitoring and the administration of enema. The deficiencies detected referred to the lack of information on cesarean section and the donation of cord blood.<br/>Conclusions: The current birth plan is perceived positively by the mothers to improve their general knowledge related to the labor process, and allows improving the communication with the professional that attends the labor. The fulfillment of the selected preferences is good. Even so, it is evident the need for updating the birth Plan to improve its comprehensibility and incorporate the deficiencies detected in order to adapt it to the needs of the women and their families. |
