| Summary, etc. | La aparición de úlceras por presión eleva la mortalidad y la morbilidad, altera el equilibrio familiar y conlleva un importante aumento de la carga de trabajo enfermero, lo que repercute en aumento de los costes sanitarios. Las úlceras por presión constituyen con frecuencia el principal problema de salud de los pacientes/familias que se atienden en el domicilio. El profesional de Enfermería es responsable de planificar y gestionar los cuidados para solucionarlo o paliarlo y evaluar los resultados. Se presenta el caso de un paciente de 91 años de edad, cuyo tratamiento incluyó un programa educativo de su cuidadora habitual y el resto de la familia para la prevención y tratamiento de úlceras por presión. Los buenos resultados obtenidos nos permiten reflexionar sobre la importancia de la educación sanitaria como intervención imprescindible de la enfermera de Atención Primaria. |

| Summary, etc. | Pressure ulcers raise the mortality and morbidity risk, cause domestic disturbances and entail a significant increase of nursing work –all of which causes an increase in health expenses. Pressure ulcers frequently comprise the main health problem of patients/families cared for at home. Nurses are responsible for planning and administering the necessary care to solve or alleviate the problem as well as to evaluate the results. This is a case of a 91-year-old patient whose treatment included an educational program on prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers, which was meant for the rest of his family and his regular carer. The positive results of the program have enabled us to reflect on the importance of health education as an essential intervention of Primary Care nurses. |
