| Summary, etc. | El cuidador principal es una figura clave en el cuidado del paciente en su domicilio. Éste se convierte en soporte del enfermo y la mayoría de las veces de la familia, con lo cual los profesionales enfermeros debemos de procurar su captación y prestarles la máxima atención a sus necesidades, como uno de los ejes principales para una mejora de los cuidados enfermeros del paciente en su casa. <br/>En este trabajo se presentan estrategias para el manejo de la problemática que vive el/la cuidador/a principal, tanto desde el modelo del cuidador como recurso, como desde el modelo del cuidador como cliente. Finalmente se hace una propuesta de taller. |

| Summary, etc. | The main carer is the key element in the caring for a patient at home. <br/>The carer becomes the nurse’s support and more often than not the support of the family and thus, we, the nursing professionals, should try to pay closer attention to the carer’s needs as one of the most important means of the nursing care provided to patients at their homes. <br/>This study presents strategies for the management of the problems that the main carer is faced with, both from a carer’s model perspective and the client. The study concludes with the proposal of a workshop for carers to attend. |
