África es el continente más pobre del mundo y el que presenta los peores indicadores y el mayor alejamiento de los Objetivos del Desarrollo del Milenio. Camerún es un país de África subsahariana que ocupa las primeras posiciones de países con bajo desarrollo humano. Su sistema de salud es precario, con copago por la asistencia recibida y en el que cohabitan recursos públicos de hospitales de distrito y dispensarios con hospitales privados dependientes, muchos de ellos, de ayuda externa. El Hospital Saint Dominique de Djunang es un hospital privado de gestión compartida entre una congregación religiosa y una organización española para el desarrollo sin ánimo de lucro. Se encuentra en un entorno rural de la región noroeste del país con dedicación a la agricultura de supervivencia. Las enfermeras y enfermeros son un colectivo fundamental en las actividades asistenciales del hospital, siempre en continuo desarrollo y formación gracias al apoyo de proyectos de cooperación. Resulta esencial la puesta en marcha de dicho proyecto que permita un feedback entre los profesionales de la Enfermería de diferentes continentes, teniendo en cuenta que la dedicación, atención y gestión de los cuidados son un lenguaje común de todos los profesionales enfermeros. En este proyecto de cooperación participaron dos enfermeros españoles, durante dos meses, en el año 2012, dentro del plan global de la Fundación Recover de mejora del sistema sanitario y, concretamente, de la consolidación y desarrollo de este hospital. |

Africa is the poorest continent in the world, and it shows the worst indicators and the highest distance from the Millennium Development Goals. Cameroon is one of the countries in Sub-Saharan Africa placed in the first positions within countries with low human development. Their health system is precarious, with co-payment for care received, and where public resources of district hospitals and dispensaries exist together with private hospitals, many of which depend on external aid. The Saint Dominique Hospital in Djunang is a private hospital which is jointly managed by a religious order and a Spanish non-profit organization for development. It is situated in a rural setting, in the North-East area of the country, which is dedicated to agriculture for survival. The nursing staff represents an essential collective in the care activities of the hospital, always in continuous development and training, due to the support of cooperation projects. It is essential to establish cooperation projects which will allow feedback between nursing professionals in different continents, taking into account that the dedication, care and management of care are a common language for all nursing professionals. On 2012, two Spanish nurses were involved during two months in this cooperation project, within the global plan by the Fundación Recover for healthcare system improvement and, specifically, for the consolidation and development of this hospital. |
