Matronas profesión -- 2019 v. 20, n.1, p. 14-22Abstract: Objetivos: Conocer las experiencias y percepciones de las mujeres y los hombres respecto a la asistencia sanitaria recibida durante el embarazo, y analizar los discursos y prácticas de género presentes desde las perspectivas de la mujer, el hombre y los/as profesionales sanitarios/as.
Material y método: Estudio cualitativo y fenomenológico. Se realizaron entrevistas en profundidad a 13 hombres y 15 mujeres que accedían por primera vez a la maternidad/paternidad y a 11 profesionales sanitarias (7 matronas y 4 ginecólogas).
Resultados: La tecnificación del control de la gestación es un hecho que se acompaña de dependencia hacia la asistencia por parte de las parejas. Las profesionales emiten discursos contradictorios respecto al enfoque asistencial, y las relaciones con el equipo sanitario determinan las vivencias de las parejas.

The professionals issue contradictory discourses regarding the healthcare approach, and the relationships with the healthcare team determine the experiences of the couples.
Conclusions: We consider that technology and humanization are not exclusive, but that attention can be given based on the latest scientific evidence, without thereby losing humanization.
