N2  - The object of the work is to analyze the incidence and importance of the pathology derived from nursing techniques, in polyvalent ICU patients.
One hundred people admitted consecutively between October and November 1982 were observed. The presence of complications derived from habitual nursing practices, related to venous catheters, vascular punctures, nasogastric tube, urinary catheter, and artificial airways, was assessed daily. The result indicates the need for the insertion, management and control of these techniques to be done in a regulated manner, and with extreme care, in order to avoid, as far as possible, these iatrogenic complications
