N2  - This work studies a subject as poorly known as it is serious: the prevention of dental caries. The first part provides elements of physiology of the oral cavity, as well as the etiology and main causal factors of the disease. An entire section deals with the most widely used indices in preventive dentistry, which alone indicate the magnitude of the problems. The rest of the work describes the different methods that allow, at different levels, the prevention of caries. Finally, the editorial staff of ROL is responsible for the box En boca de la OMS, where an ecumenical vision of the caries problem and a national reflection are given
