N2  - Quality control is the basis of effectiveness for any job. But, as Plato asked, who controls the controllers? The control, in other words, must have some bases, a coherence, to be useful. This paper reviews the historical background of the concept of quality in nursing care, its characteristics in what is called the artisanal age and the industrial age; the concept of quality in the industry, and in the areas of health.
It also deals with the necessity and control of that quality and describes three methods-structural, process analysis, results analysis-to measure it.
Finally, a quality control system is proposed
