N2  - This article intends to review the <<neutral thermal environment>> in the neonatal period within a Neonatology Unit. Reference is made to the different forms of heat production and loss and to some methods of action to avoid these losses. Likewise, it is shown that the maintenance of an adequate environment favors the reduction of morbidity and mortality, improves the evolution of R.N. with neonatal asphyxia, and provides a more satisfactory weight curve
