It is practiced in patients who have suffered oral poisoning. According to the statistics elaborated in this work, the highest number of drug poisonings are those carried out voluntarily as attempted autolysis. These patients suffer from mental disorders or their emotional stability is altered, which is why the nurse-patient interaction is often conflictive. Achieving good communication, a collaborative attitude and the extraction of the maximum amount of the ingested poison by means of gastric lavage will be the success of the treatment and of the healthcare team. The review of the gastric lavage technique throughout its process will lead us to perform it correctly without running unnecessary risks ER -
