TY - SER TI - Estado nutricional de los ancianos: algunas consideraciones sobre su valoración SN - 0210-5020 N1 - Este artículo se encuentra disponible en su edición impresa; Bibliografía: p. 88 N2 - Before using the anthropometric and biochemical indicators that are commonly used in the nutritional assessment of individuals or populations, it is necessary to know to what extent their validity and reproductive capacity are affected by the changes that occur in body composition, organic functionality, and anthropometric indices, during the aging process. For this reason, rather than describing nutritional assessment techniques, we will carry out a review of the aspects that we must consider when we wish to develop an optimal nutritional assessment in a population with characteristics different from adults. This article aims to describe the most important aspects in the assessment of intake, anthropometry and biochemical indicators, relating them to physical, functional and body composition changes, which often hinder techniques such as the interpretation of a nutritional assessment in the elderly.
