N2  - The contribution of Anthropology to the interdisciplinary study of human nutrition is analyzed. The sociocultural study of food is part of a recent research trend encompassed under the terms of nutritional anthropology or food anthropology. The incorporation of this type of research is essential in any food intervention program -nutritional education, food and nutrition policies, food aid- since the use of food satisfies both the physiological needs of the organism and the sociocultural needs of human groups. The contribution of Anthropology is important both for the development of the theory of human nutrition and for its scientific application
