N2  - The article analyzes the treatment that the press has given to issues related to health in order to assess the emotional impact they have on the population. The theme chosen is the news about <<Atypical Legionella Pneumonia>> that appeared in El País and El Ideal during the month of September 1991.
The starting hypothesis has been confirmed. The press has highlighted all the negative aspects of the problem, not reporting on the positive or preventive aspects, giving an image of confusion, indiscriminateness and insecurity. Evidencing, consequently, the need to plan and control the communications that are given to the press by health professionals
