N2  - The etiological diagnosis of sepsis (12.5 episodes per 1,000 admissions) is made by blood culture. Its contamination makes the interpretation of this test difficult. The experience of different systems of evaluation and control of contamination in blood cultures is presented, during four years, in a General Hospital. The application of regulated procedures and the constant information of the obtained results has allowed to reduce to 4.4% the contaminations of the practiced blood cultures
