N2  - The assessment of nutritional status has a fundamental role in the evaluation of people's health, and especially in the group of children affected by profound or severe mental deficiency (DMP-DMS). The present study intends to evaluate, through a detailed analysis, the nutritional status of a group of 34 DMP-DMS children under 14 years of age, cared for in a residential regime in a public institution. From there, an attempt is made to correlate it with morbidity-mortality to suggest interventions that improve malnutrition. A subgroup of seventeen cases affected by malnutrition is analyzed in detail, through statistical correlation of the factors that may have conditioned it. The study shows that malnutrition is an important factor in morbidity
