Objetivo: identificar las terapias más actuales y eficaces para el tratamiento del STC leve o moderado.
Material y métodos: se ha llevado a cabo una revisión bibliográfica sistematizada durante los meses de febrero y marzo de 2017 de Ensayos Clínicos Controlados y Aleatorizados (ECAs), sobre los diversos tratamientos fisioterápicos del STC. Esta búsqueda se realizó en las bases de datos electrónicas PubMed (Publisher Medline), PEDro (Physiotherapy Evidence Database) y “Biblioteca Cochrane Plus”.
Resultados: se analizaron 10 estudios incluidos en la revisión final. Se encontraron diversas terapias (láser, ultrasonidos, acupuntura, uso de férulas, terapia manual, vendaje neuromuscular) utilizadas para el tratamiento del STC y que tienen como objetivo final mejorar la sintomatología y funcionalidad del paciente.
Conclusiones: se encontró evidencia científica que avala la efectividad de la fisioterapia para el tratamiento del STC. La acupuntura y la electroacupuntura combinadas con férula nocturna, así como las técnicas de terapia manual aplicadas de manera aislada o junto a otros tratamientos parecen tener una mayor eficacia en el tratamiento del STC.Summary: Background: several treatments for carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) have been described, without reaching a consensus among the scientific community on which techniques are most effective.

Material and Methods: a systematized bibliographic review was carried out during the months of February and March 2017 of Randomized Clinical Trials (RCTs) about the different physical therapy treatments of CTS. This search was performed in PubMed (Publisher Medline), PEDro (Physiotherapy Evidence Database) and "Cochrane Plus Library" electronic databases.
Results: 10 studies included in the final review were analyzed. Several therapies (laser, ultrasound, acupuncture, use of splints, manual therapy, kinesiotape) were used for the treatment of CTS with the purpose of improving the patient's symptoms and functionality.
Conclusion: scientific evidence was found to support the effectiveness of physical therapy for the treatment of CTS. Acupuncture and electroacupuncture combined with night splinting, as well as manual therapy techniques applied alone or with other treatments seem to have a greater efficacy in the treatment of CTS.
