Summary, etc. |
|

Summary, etc. |
Introduction and objectives:
The subacromial syndrome is the main cause of chronic pain and loss of function in the shoulder, it´s persistence is the cause of major healthcare resource consumption and lost days of work due to sick, as a result of the injury. The physical therapy is essential for recovery.
Objective:
Determine the most appropriate physiotherapy treatment for subacromial syndrome based on the highest quality medical literature available in this area.
Material and method:
A literature review has been conducted on the PEDro´s databases, Science Direct, Medline and a free search on Google Scholar that included randomized clinical trials, published in the last 5 years with a minimum value of 7 on the PEDro scale.
Results:
After applying the criteria outlined in the material and method statement, 17 items out of a total of 284 were analyzed.
Conclusions:
There is evidence to support the effectiveness of multiple physiotherapy techniques for the treatment of subacromial syndrome. Exercise programs yield the best reported results of all the treatment options. Further studies are required to confirm the effectiveness of specific physiotherapy exercises and tape incorporated into the physical therapy regime. Electrotherapy plays a role in reducing pain but it is unknown whether this has a real medical effect or simply acts as a placebo.
|
