<br/>OBJETIVOS: 1) Determinar si la manipulación osteopática (Grupo Experimental, GE) de las vértebras T9-T10, durante un episodio de amigdalitis, se corresponde con la desaparición total de los síntomas en un número de días significativamente menor que en los pacientes con manipulación placebo (Grupo Control, GC). 2) Determinar si dicha manipulación osteopática se corresponde con una disminución del número de recidivas durante el siguiente año. 3) Determinar si existe asociación entre los resultados del tratamiento y alguna de las variables estudiadas (sexo, edad, nº de episodios del año anterior...)<br/>METODOLOGÍA: Ensayo clínico aleatorizado, con pacientes y evaluador cegados. <br/> Muestreo “de conveniencia”; se incluyen todos los casos que, aplicados los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, acuden para tratamiento manipulativo gratuito de su amigdalitis palatina diagnosticada, desde centros sanitarios colaboradores de la provincia de Cáceres. Tras cumplimentar el cuestionario y firmado el consentimiento informado, el fisioterapeuta-osteópata interventor asigna aleatoriamente a cada paciente de dos subgrupos (con o sin antibióticos) al GC o al GE, garantizándose así que los pacientes con o sin antibioticoterapia se distribuyan homogéneamente entre los grupos Control y Experimental. A continuación le realiza la intervención correspondiente, según el grupo asignado aleatoriamente:<br/>A) A los pacientes del GC les aplica la “maniobra placebo”, consistente en simular una manipulación, sin impulso ni puesta en tensión, de vértebras torácicas en sedestación, con contacto de las rodillas del osteópata en las vértebras torácicas medias.<br/>B) A los pacientes del GE, les manipula con impulso las vértebras torácicas T9-T10, hasta liberar sus facetas articulares, con técnica osteopática estructural en sedestación y contacto de las rodillas del osteópata en esas vértebras torácicas.<br/>Se registran las manipulaciones y todos los cambios en la sintomatología de la amigdalitis en la primera semana y cada mes (controles telefónicos), registrándose las recidivas, que pueden ser nuevamente tratadas pasado un año<br/> |

OBJECTIVES: 1) To determine if osteopathic manipulation of the vertebrae T9-T10 (Experimental Group, EG) during an episode of tonsillitis, corresponds to the total resolution of symptoms in a significantly lower number days than in patients with the placebo manipulation (Control Group, CG). 2) To determine whether the manipulation corresponds to less relapses in the following year. 3) To determine if there is association between the treatment outcome and some of the studied variables (sex, age, number of episodes in the previous year, etc ...)<br/>METHODOLOGY: Randomized clinical trial, with both patients and evaluator blinded.<br/>Convenience sampling. All cases, once the inclusion and exclusion criteria have been applied, that come to free manipulative treatment of diagnosed palatal tonsil from health collaborating centers in the province of Caceres are included. After filling in the questionnaire and signing the informed consent, the auditor physiotherapist-osteopath randomly assigns each patient of both subgroups (with or without antibiotics) to the Control Group or Experimental Group, thus ensuring that patients with or without antibiotics are homogeneously distributed between the control and experimental groups. Then he takes the appropriate action, according to the randomly assigned group:<br/>A) He applies "placebo maneuver" to GC patients consisting in simulate handling without momentum or tensioning of thoracic vertebrae in a sitting position with knees contacting the osteopath in the middle thoracic vertebrae.<br/>B) He manipulates GE patients with thrust on the thoracic vertebrae T9-T10, to release their facet joints, with structural osteopathic technique in sitting position and contact with the osteopath's knees on those thoracic vertebrae.<br/>Manipulations and all changes in the symptoms of tonsillitis are recorded in the first week and every month (phone controls). Relapses are also recorded and can be treated again a year later. <br/> |
