Introducción: Según la OMS, “la lactancia materna (LM) es la forma ideal de aportar a los niños pequeños los nutrientes que necesitan para un crecimiento y desarrollo saludables.” Presenta una composición muy variada y otorga múltiples beneficios tanto para el recién nacido como para la madre. Sin embargo, existen diversas contraindicaciones y muchas mujeres la abandonan por distintos motivos. <br/>La alergia se define como “aquella situación en la que se ve alterada la capacidad reactiva del organismo respondiendo de una forma exagerada a una sustancia a la que normalmente los demás individuos no reaccionan”. En general se clasifican en: mediada por inmunoglobulina E (IgE) o no mediada por IgE. Las manifestaciones clínicas varían dependiendo del tipo de reacción. En la actualidad, existen diversos métodos diagnósticos para su detección y múltiples tratamientos.<br/>Material y método: Revisión bibliográfica sobre la influencia de la lactancia materna en el desarrollo de las alergias a través de una búsqueda de artículos en las bases de datos PubMed, Scielo y Dialnet y Google Académico.<br/>Resultados: Se analizaron 34 artículos. La mayoría defienden que la LM tiene un efecto protector sobre las alergias, aunque no hay pruebas suficientes que puedan afirmarlo. Lo mismo ocurre en relación al tiempo de duración, tipo de lactancia y otros factores relacionados con la LM como la introducción complementaria de alimentos y la dieta materna.<br/>Conclusiones: Aunque son mayoritarios los que opinan que sí existe un efecto protector, no se puede confirmar esta evidencia. Por lo tanto, la lactancia se debe promover y recomendar por sus múltiples beneficios pero nunca asegurar que sea preventiva para la aparición de enfermedades alérgicas<br/> |

Introduction: According to the WHO, Breastfeeding (BF) is an unequalled way of providing ideal food for the healthy growth and development of infants. It has a very varied composition and provides multiple benefits for both the baby and the mother. However, there are several contraindications and many women abandon it for different reasons. Allergy is defined as the situation in which the reactive capacity of the organism is altered by responding exaggeratedly to a substance that normally another people don´t react. In general, is classified as: IgE mediated or non-IgE mediated. Signs and symptoms are different depending on the type of reaction. At present, there are several diagnostic methods for its detection and many treatments.<br/>Material and method: Review about the breastfeeding influence in the development of allergies trough a search of articles in databases PubMed, Scielo and Dialnet and Google Scholar.<br/>Results: 34 studies were reviewed. The majority defend the hypothesis of the existence of the protective effect. It happen the same in relation to the duration, type of lactation and other factors related to BF such as complementary food introduction and maternal diet.<br/>Conclusions: Although the majority authors think about the existence of a protective effect, this evidence can´t be confirmed. Therefore, BF should be promoted and recommend because of their multiple benefits but never assure that it is preventive for the allergic diseases development<br/> |
