INTRODUCCIÓN: la leucemia es una enfermedad con un gran impacto para la salud pública. Afecta no solo a la vida del menor, sino a la del resto de la familia. La persona que adquiere el rol de acompañante es el considerado cuidador primario. El Objetivo de este estudio es realizar una búsqueda de información sobre el impacto de esta enfermedad sobre el cuidador primario. <br/>METODOLOGÍA: Este proyecto es una revisión bibliográfica a través del análisis de nueve artículos. <br/>RESULTADOS: la dinámica familiar sufre grandes cambios, ya que un miembro de la familia adquiere el rol de cuidador del menor enfermo, y otro el rol de cuidador del resto de la familia y del hogar. Esta separación supone un cambio en la dinámica conyugal, que puede fortalecerse o debilitarse. A nivel laboral, el cuidador generalmente decide abandonar o disminuir su jornada de trabajo, lo que supone un cambio económico. Con respecto al afrontamiento varía dependiendo de la persona y de la fase de enfermedad por la que esté pasando el menor. Muchos cuidadores deciden afrontar la situación a través de los valores y creencias. El papel del personal sanitario le ven como una fuente de información sobre este proceso y el papel de enfermería como una ayuda a la hora de elaborar sus estrategias de afrontamiento. <br/>DISCUSIÓN: los estudios analizados sobre el impacto del cáncer infantil en el cuidador refieren que se producen el mismo tipo de consecuencias que las que se evidencian en la leucemia. <br/>CONCLUSIONES: la leucemia supone un cambio drástico en la vida del cuidador primario en todos los ámbitos. Los padres ven al personal de enfermería como una fuente de ayuda para desarrollar sus estrategias de afrontamiento<br/> |

INTRODUCTION: Leukemia is a high impact disease for public health. It not only affects the child’s life but it also has repercussions on the rest of the family members. The person in charge of carrying out the caregiver rol is considered the primary carer. This study is aimed to provide an analysis of leukemia bearing on the closest person to the patient, the compani on. <br/>METHODOLOGY: The Project is a bibliographic review performed through the analysis and evaluation of nine articles. <br/>RESULTS: family dynamics are altered as its members divide their efforts into taking care of the minor, assuming the primary role as the care giver, and of the rest of the family. Thus, the disease can also affect personal relations among the members, boosting or worsening them. On the other hand, with regards to the work situation, there is normally a noticeable economics hift since work is no longer the care taker’s priority and it is set a side. Confronting the situation varies depending on different factors such as the stage of the disease and the victim’s personality. Many guardians decide to struggle with the illness through their values and beliefs. Medical professionals are seen as a source of information while the importance of nursing is needed when searching for ways to face the sickness. <br/>DISCUSSION: the diverse analyzed studies about cancer and leukemia have shown that there is no distinction between the impact, engendered by these two diseases, on the guardian. <br/>CONCLUSION: Leukemia supposes a drastic transformation in all aspects of the primary caregiver’s life. Parents see the nursing personnel as a source of help for confronting the disease and developing strategies<br/> |
