Introducción y Objetivos.<br/>La prevalencia de alergia alimenticia está aumentando. La inmunoterapia oral podría ser un posible tratamiento para poder conseguir el estado de desensibilización o tolerancia en estos casos.<br/>Se busca evaluar la eficacia de la inmunoterapia oral para alcanzar la desensibilización o falta de respuesta sostenida y la seguridad de la misma en niños.<br/>Material y método.<br/>Revisión bibliográfica a partir de la consulta en diferentes bases de datos, editoriales y revistas científicas, utilizando ensayos clínicos, revisiones bibliográficas y tesis doctorales.<br/>Resultados<br/>Se revisaron 37 estudios con una muestra de 2510 individuos, 1841 recibieron tratamiento activo. Un total de 1503 pacientes fueron desensibilizados y 104 de ellos fueron considerados tolerantes.<br/>Las reacciones adversas leves fueron frecuentes y 210 pacientes requirieron adrenalina.<br/>Conclusión<br/>La inmunoterapia oral puede considerarse ser un tratamiento eficaz, aunque son necesarios más ensayos para poder establecerse como una práctica rutinaria.<br/>Los efectos adversos son habituales, pero en su mayoría son fácilmente tratados y controlados. |

The prevalence of food hypersensitivity is increasing. Oral immunotherapy could be a<br/>possible treatment in order to achieve the state of desensitization or tolerance in these<br/>cases.<br/>This review aims to assess the oral immunotherapy’s efficacy to reach the successful<br/>desensitization state or sustained unresponsiveness and the safety of this treatment.<br/>Material and methods<br/>Bibliographic review based on different databases, editorials and scientific journals,<br/>using clinical trials, doctoral theses and reviews.<br/>Results<br/>37 studies were reviewed with a sample of 2510 individuals, 1826 of them<br/>received active treatment. A total of 1503 patients were desensitized and 104 of them<br/>achieved the state of tolerance.<br/>Mild adverse reactions were frequent and 210 patients requested adrenaline.<br/>Conclusion<br/>Oral immunotherapy can be considered as an effective treatment. However, more<br/>clinical trials are necessary to establish it as routine practice.<br/>Side effects are common, most of them being classified as mild. Also, they can be<br/>easily treated and controlled. |
