520 3# - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 8# - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Introduction: Pregnancy involves a myriad of emotions experienced by women in different ways. Both emotional and psychological changes bring about concerns and anxieties for women as pregnancy progresses, directly influencing their expectations towards motherhood. The midwife serves as the primary professional to address all these uncertainties and thus ensure proper and healthy pregnancy monitoring.
Objectives: To define the experiences during gestation of pregnant women attending the "Los Cármenes" Health Center, as well as to delve into the emotions of expectant mothers and discover their expectations for the future of their pregnancy.
Methodology: This is a descriptive study of qualitative methodology conducted between January and May 2024 at the "Los Cármenes" Health Center in the Community of Madrid. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with participants recruited in the midwife's office following specific inclusion and exclusion criteria.
Results: 10 women with a mean age of 33 years were recruited, mostly without previous children and having experienced a prior miscarriage. The discourse of the women reflects the gratitude with which they receive the news of their pregnancy and how they undergo the process of acceptance, as well as the support networks they possess and how they expect to face pregnancy. Some of the concerns they
mention include fear of childbirth or fetal loss, which are significant points in the evolution of their pregnancy both physically and emotionally.
Conclusion: In conclusion, the different concerns of women, as well as their emotions during the gestation process, have been defined. This confirms their expectations, experiences, and satisfaction with the midwife.
