La población gitana ha sido históricamente marginada y enfrenta una serie de desafíos socioeconómicos y culturales los cuales afectan a todos los ámbitos de la vida y a la salud de los individuos. La comunidad gitana de Cañada Real, ubicada en la periferia de Madrid, enfrenta desafíos en términos de acceso y calidad de atención en el sistema de salud debido a su entorno marginalizado y las condiciones precarias en las que viven.<br/>Objetivo<br/>Describir las vivencias y experiencias de la población gitana de Cañada Real en relación al sistema de salud en la Comunidad de Madrid.<br/>Material y método Estudio descriptivo de metodología cualitativa con enfoque fenomenológico, a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas a participantes de población gitana, mayores de edad, usuarias del Servicio Madrileño de Salud el último año. Las entrevistas fueron presenciales e individuales en enero y febrero de 2024. Se realizó la captación mediante un muestreo intencional no probabilístico.<br/>Resultados<br/>Participaron 12 individuos, 8 mujeres y 4 hombres, con edades comprendidas entre los 25 y los 65 años. De los discursos de los participantes emergieron las siguientes categorías: autoconocimiento del estado de salud, barreras, conocimiento del sistema sanitario, quejas y mejoras y experiencias en el sistema sanitario.<br/>Conclusión<br/>Se revelan tanto aspectos comunes como la heterogeneidad dentro de la comunidad gitana de Cañada Real, destacando la importancia de valorar las experiencias individuales y las circunstancias personales.<br/>Se evidencia la necesidad de más recursos de salud. A pesar de la confianza en los profesionales, persisten barreras como la falta de recursos en la zona y los prejuicios.<br/>Las quejas reflejan preocupaciones como largas listas de espera y falta de profesionales, y las propuestas de mejora apuntan hacia reducir tiempos de espera, renovar instalaciones y mejorar las condiciones de vida en la comunidad. |

The Romani population has been historically marginalized and has to face a lot of socio-economic and cultural challenges. The Romani community of Cañada Real find difficulties in terms of quality of and access to healthcare due to their marginalized environment and precarious living conditions.<br/>Objective<br/>To describe the experiences of the Romani population of Cañada Real in relation to the healthcare system in the Community of Madrid.<br/>Material and Method Descriptive study using qualitative methodology with a phenomenological approach, through semi-structured interviews with Romani adults participants, who have used the<br/>Madrid Healthcare Service in the last year. Interviews were conducted in person and individually in January and February 2024. Participants were recruited through intentional non-probabilistic sampling.<br/>Results Twelve persons participated, 8 women and 4 men, aged between 25 and 65 years old.<br/>From the participants' discourses, the following categories emerged: self-awareness of theirselfes health, barriers, knowledge of the healthcare system, complaints and improvements, and experiences in the healthcare system.<br/>Conclusion<br/>Both, common aspects and heterogeneity within the Romani community of Cañada Real, are revealed, highlighting the importance of valuing individual experiences and personal circumstances.<br/>The study evidences that more healthcare resources are necessary. Despite trust in professionals, barriers such as lack of resources in the area and prejudices persist.<br/>Complaints reflect concerns such as long waiting lists and lack of professionals, and proposed improvements aim to reduce waiting times, renovate facilities, and improve living conditions in the community. |
