Introducción: la punción seca es una técnica de elección en el tratamiento invasivo de los puntos gatillo miofasciales (PGM), siendo uno de sus handicaps el dolor postpunción. A su vez, el kinesio® tape (KTP) está propuesto como un posible neuromodulador del dolor por sus propiedades físicas. Objetivos: en este estudio se plantea la posibilidad de utilizar el KTP en la neuromodulación del dolor postpunción. Material y métodos: estudio piloto, ensayo clínico, controlado, aleatorizado y a ciego simple. Participantes: 35 sujetos de edades comprendidas entre los 22 y los 50 años (media corregida: 30,2857 años, SD: 8,4664), 17 mujeres y 18 hombres, con PGM presente en el trapecio superior (banda tensa y dolor local) fueron incluidos en el estudio. Intervención: los sujetos fueron distribuidos aleatoriamente a un grupo control (punción seca) o a un grupo de tratamiento (punción seca y KTP). Medidas obtenidas: dolor postpunción medida mediante escala numérica verbal (ENV) inmediatamente después del tratamiento, a las 24, 48 y 168 horas. Resultados: no existen diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre ambos grupos. Conclusiones: el dolor postpunción parece no verse modificado por el uso del KTP sobre el músculo pinchado. |

Introduction: dry needling is a technique of choice in the invasive treatment of myofascial trigger points (MTrPs), post-puncture pain being one of its handicaps. In turn, kinesio® tape (KTP) is proposed as a possible pain neuromodulator due to its physical properties. Objectives: this study considers the possibility of using KTP in the neuromodulation of post-puncture pain. Material and methods: pilot study, clinical trial, controlled, randomized and single blind. Participants: 35 subjects aged between 22 and 50 years (corrected mean: 30.2857 years, SD: 8.4664), 17 women and 18 men, with MTrP present in the upper trapezius (tight band and local pain). were included in the study. Intervention: Subjects were randomized to a control group (dry needling) or a treatment group (dry needling and KTP). Measurements obtained: post-puncture pain measured by verbal numerical scale (VNS) immediately after treatment, at 24, 48 and 168 hours. Results: there are no statistically significant differences between both groups. Conclusions: post-puncture pain does not seem to be modified by the use of KTP on the punctured muscle. |
