Introduction: the ankle sprain is one of the most frequent injuries that occur in the sports field, and for its correct recovery it is necessary to know the factors that affect it. The main objective of this study is to analyze the influence of the intrinsic anthropometric values of players on ankle sprain. Material and methods: a retrospective cohort study design was carried out. The sample consisted of 22 men between the ages of 14 and 21 belonging to Jaén C.B. that they had actively militated in the same club during the previous campaign and the present one, and that they belonged to a higher category of child. The variables measured were having suffered an ankle sprain in the previous season, age, height, body mass index and percentage, and body fat percentage. The measurements were made at the La Salobreja sports center in Jaén, within the framework of medical examinations for the beginning of the season, and for this purpose a caliper, scale, stadiometer and tape measure were used. Results: the t-test for independent samples revealed that the differences in mean height between the group that had suffered an ankle sprain (190.44 cm) and those that had not (183.3 cm) were found to be statistically significant. significant (p < 0.05). Conclusions: height can be a determining factor in the risk of suffering an ankle sprain in basketball. |
