Expansion of summary note | Objetivo: conocer la situación de enfermería en el control de la infección nosocomial (CIN). <br/>Material y métodos: durante el periodo 1990-1991 se envió un cuestionario a todos los hospitales generales de más de 100 camas de la red pública y a todos los hospitales generales de más de 400 camas con independencia de su adscripción institucional. La encuesta se remitió a 159 hospitales que cumplían estos criterios. Resultados: se obtuvo respuesta del 67%. El número de enfermeras dedicadas a CIN es la mitad del considerado necesario. Del personal de enfermería que trabaja en CIN el 30% de supervisoras, 48% de enfermeras y 32% de auxiliares dedicaban más de 20 horas semanales a esta actividad. Cerca del 50% de este tiempo se emplea en la recogida de datos. Se seleccionaron diez métodos de CIN de reconocida eficacia, la mayoría se habían establecido como norma en los hospitales encuestados a partir de 1975. |

Summary, etc. | Objective: to know the nursing situation in the control of nosocomial infection (CIN).<br/>Material and methods: During the period 1990-1991, a questionnaire was sent to all general hospitals with more than 100 beds in the public network and to all general hospitals with more than 400 beds, regardless of their institutional affiliation. The survey was sent to 159 hospitals that met these criteria. Results: 67% response was obtained. The number of nurses dedicated to CIN is half of what is considered necessary. Of the nursing staff working at the CIN, 30% of supervisors, 48% of nurses and 32% of auxiliaries dedicated more than 20 hours per week to this activity. About 50% of this time is spent on data collection. Ten CIN methods of known efficacy were selected, most of which had been established as the norm in the hospitals surveyed since 1975. |
