| Summary, etc. | La alimentación es una necesidad básica del organismo. El mantenimiento de un adecuado estado nutritivo resulta fundamental para mantener la salud. Son numerosas las enfermedades agudas y crónicas que precisan de soporte nutricional artificial. En los últimos años se ha incrementado el uso de la nutrición enteral, tanto en el medio hospitalario como en el extrahospitalario. En este artículo describimos las características de la nutrición enteral, su composición, indicaciones, complicaciones y manejo, con especial énfasis en los cuidados de enfermería. |

In this article we describe the characteristics of enteral nutrition, its composition, indications, complications and management, with special emphasis on nursing care. |
