| Summary, etc. | La OMS considera la lactancia materna la forma ideal de alimentar al recién nacido y una base biológica y emocional única, recomendando lactar de manera exclusiva hasta los seis meses de vida.<br/>Tras un período de abandono masivo mediado por múltiples causas socioculturales que se inició hace medio siglo, nos encontramos ante una lenta recuperación. España se encuentra con una prevalencia inicial que supera el 80%. Sin embargo, a pesar de las iniciativas llevadas a cabo por entidades y colectivos de profesionales en el medio hospitalario para fomento y promoción de la lactancia materna, el ingreso hospitalario de ma-dre e hijo ejerce un efecto negativo para la lactancia materna. Por ello se ha diseñado un programa de intervención en educación para la salud para el fomento de la lactancia materna en el medio hospitalario |

| Summary, etc. | The WHO considers breastfeeding the ideal way to feed the newborn and a unique biological and emotional basis, recommending exclusive breastfeeding up to six months of life.<br/>After a period of massive abandonment mediated by multiple sociocultural causes that began half a century ago, we are facing a slow recovery. Spain has an initial prevalence that exceeds 80%. However, despite the initiatives carried out by entities and groups of professionals in the hospital environment to encourage and promote breastfeeding, the hospital admission of mother and child has a negative effect on breastfeeding. For this reason, an intervention program in health education has been designed to promote breastfeeding in hospitals. |
