Introducción y objetivos: La ECN es una patología que comienza en los primeros días de vida y está caracterizada por la presencia de necrosis isquémica en la mucosa intestinal. Destaca su dificultad diagnóstica y etiología desconocida, además de cursar con síntomas y signos inespecíficos, por lo que es prioritario un diagnóstico temprano para proporcionar un tratamiento precoz y reducir así sus secuelas. El objetivo general de este trabajo es describir las implicaciones de la nutrición enteral (NE) en lactantes para la ECN.<br/>Material y método: Se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica de la literatura sobre el efecto de la NE en la ECN. La búsqueda se llevó a cabo mediante la combinación de descriptores MesH y DeCs en las bases de datos Dialnet, Scielo, Central, Pubmed y Cinahl.<br/>Resultados: Fueron incluidos un total de 16 artículos para dar respuesta a los objetivos del estudio. La leche humana o donada y las fórmulas infantiles son las utilizadas en la dieta de los neonatos. En general, se muestra la eficacia y beneficio de la LM como principal alimento para la prevención de ECN, especialmente al iniciar de forma temprana la alimentación.<br/>Conclusiones: La LM o leche donada es la primera opción para nutrir a los RNP, además de ser un factor protector frente a la ECN. Asimismo, el inicio temprano de la alimentación enteral parece suponer un factor protector ante esta patología, aunque a día de hoy la evidencia no es concluyente, por lo que es necesaria una mayor y mejor investigación al respecto.<br/> |

Introduction and objectives: NEC is a pathology that begins in the first days of life and is characterized by the presence of ischemic necrosis in the intestinal mucosa. It highlights its diagnostic difficulty and unknown etiology, in addition to presenting with nonspecific symptoms and signs, so early diagnosis is a priority to provide early treatment and thus reduce its sequelae. The general objective of this work is to describe the implications of enteral nutrition (EN) in infants for NEC.<br/>Material and Method: A literature review of the effect of EN on NEC has been performed. The search was carried out by combining MesH and DeCs descriptors in the Dialnet, Scielo, Central, Pubmed and Cinahl databases.<br/>Results: A total of 16 articles were included to respond to the objectives of the study. <br/>Human or donated milk and infant formulas are those used in the diet of newborns. In general, the efficacy and benefit of BF as the main food for the prevention of NEC are shown, especially when starting feeding early.<br/>Conclusions: LM or donated milk is the first option to nourish RNP, in addition to being a protective factor against NEC. Likewise, the early start of enteral feeding seems to be a protective factor against this pathology, although today the evidence is not conclusive, which is why more and better research is necessary |
