| Summary, etc. | Este estudio relaciona la red social (formal e informal) de mayores gallegos dependientes y sus características socio- sanitarias. En la vejez se asumen roles que influyen en aspectos psicológos y de la salud; el hábitat y las diferencias de género son también determinantes del bienestar psicosocial. Para evaluar la red social de los mayores dependientes, se realizó un estudio descriptivo de los datos a partir de un cuestionario ad hoc administrado.<br/><br/>La muestra (proporcional respecto a las variables sexo y hábitat) estaba formada por 140 personas mayores de 65 años que padecían algún tipo de dependencia. Se observó que la población estudiada recurrió más a la red informal y primaria al percibirla más efectiva que a los apoyos formales. Esta efectividad se incrementa en el área rural, debido a características tanto socio-sanitarias como orográficas. En conclusión, la red primaria es la principal fuente de calidad de vida y bienestar psicosocial para los mayores dependientes.<br/> |

| Summary, etc. | This study relates the social network (formal and informal) of older Galician dependents and their socio-sanitary characteristics. In old age, roles that influence psychological and health aspects are assumed; Habitat and gender differences are also determinants of psychosocial well-being. To evaluate the social network of the elderly dependents, a descriptive study of the data was carried out based on an administered ad hoc questionnaire.<br/><br/>The sample (proportional to the sex and habitat variables) was made up of 140 people over 65 who suffered from some type of dependency. It was observed that the population studied resorted more to the informal and primary network, perceiving it as more effective than formal support. This effectiveness is increased in the rural area, due to socio-sanitary and orographic characteristics. In conclusion, the primary network is the main source of quality of life and psychosocial well-being for the elderly dependent. |
