Summary, etc.
520 8# - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Electrophysiological studies have been performed traditionally by means of endocavitary registers, through inserting several catheters guided by fuoroscopy and placing them in different areas of the heart. The navigation systems have reduced almost completely the radioscopy time. The cardiac chamber investigated is visualized in 3-D, moving around it in real time.
There are several stystems: EnSite NavX and EnSite Array (St. Jude Medical), LocaLisa (Medtronic), Carto (Biosense Webster). The first electrophysiological study was recorded in 1971, and up to date, the development in this field has increased hugely, becoming the most innovative the navigation systems mentioned previously, which involve a great advance. Regarding to nursing, the biggest problem is connected directly to the chamber researched.
