Summary, etc.
520 8# - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. • Introduction: In the daily practice of our Cardiac Rehabilitation and Prevention service, we observed a high incidence of obese patients with coronary artery disease. In the present study we appreciate the effectiveness of the educational intervention during Phase I in areas related to physical activity, dietary changes, cardiovascular risk factors and knowledge and management of the disease in a group of obese patients with coronary artery disease, the main objective being to quantify reducing the abdominal circumference, as well as other aspects of assessing the evolution of glycemic and lipid profile, components of metabolic syndrome, morbidity, functional capacity, changes in diet, physical activity, and quality of life. • Material and methods: Analytical study quasi-experimental type before-after, longitudinal and prospective. 24 patients were selected from ischemic obese consecutively hospitalized in cardiology. Were included in Phase I to make three educational group and one individual session. We reviewed 40 and 180 days. • Results: In 180 days we got a decrease of 3.21 cm. (P = 0.0005), accompanied by improvement of glycemic and lipid profile, the number of components of metabolic syndrome, achieving a significant commitment to the practice of physical activity, dietary compliance and therapeutic.<br/>• Conclusions: The educational activities of Phase I is a key to ensuring that the patient adopt healthy habits that remain effective in the medium term. Where there are no structured programs should ensure educational interventions during the hospital stay, which situates the patient before his illness and establish guidelines on physical activity, nutrition and disease management.
