| Summary, etc. | Hoy día el mundo del trasplante ha conseguido concienciar a la sociedad de la importancia que tiene su cuerpo para otras personas. Mucho se habla de trasplantes de órganos de pacientes difuntos a vivos, pero ¿qué hay del hueso? Es un trasplante "agradecido" que no necesita de Donante difunto para dar a su Receptor una solución a su defecto óseo. Es algo que está en auge y a lo que queda mucho terreno por explorar. En la actualidad el uso de injertos óseos constituye una práctica habitual en las COT. La Unidad de Banco de Huesos del Hospital de la Paz de Madrid tiene su inicio en el año 1988. La obtención del injerto óseo procede de las cabezas femorales extraídas durante el reemplazo protésico de la cadera parcial o total. Para llevar a cabo estos procedimientos la enfermera juega un papel muy importante puesto que es la responsable de la gestión de la Unidad, entrevistas a los donantes, recogida de piezas óseas, almacenarlas, prepararlas para la implantación en cirugía. |

At present, the use of bone grafts is a common practice in TOC. The Bone Bank Unit of the Hospital de la Paz in Madrid begins in 1988. Obtaining the bone graft comes from the femoral heads removed during the prosthetic replacement of the partial or total hip. To carry out these procedures the nurse plays a very important role since she is responsible for the management of the Unit, interviews with donors, collection of bone pieces, storing them, preparing them for implantation in surgery. |
