| Summary, etc. | El Síndrome Confusional Agudo (SCA) es un trastorno mental frecuente con resultados adversos graves en los pacientes hospitalizados en el que influyen aspectos de la atención habitual y del medio ambiente de los hospitales.<br/>Por estar relacionado con el aumento de la mortalidad, la morbilidad física, la duración de la estancia hospitalaria y la institucionalización posterior de los enfermos que lo padecen, se consideró importante el realizar un estudio descriptivo de los pacientes que sufrían dicho síndrome en Ortogeriatría del Hospital Universitario de Salamanca.<br/>Se realizó un estudio basado en los informes de alta de geriatría y planes de cuidados informatizados de enfermería.<br/>La población fue de 315 pacientes ingresados en el periodo Julio 2010 a Octubre 2011 con patología traumatológica del miembro inferior.<br/>En nuestro medio hemos detectado una prevalencia del SCA similar a la de otros estudios revisados en la bibliografía. Dada la dificultad diagnóstica se hace necesario un abordaje integral y multidisciplinar, siendo fundamental el personal de enfermería para la pronta identificación y aplicación de cuidados. |

| Summary, etc. | Acute Confusional Syndrome (ACS) is a common mental disorder with severe adverse outcomes in hospitalized patients in which aspects of regular hospital care and the environment influence.<br/>As it was related to increased mortality, physical morbidity, length of hospital stay and subsequent institutionalization of sufferers, it was considered important to conduct a descriptive study of patients who they suffered from this syndrome in Ortogeriatrics of the University Hospital of Salamanca.<br/>A study was conducted based on discharge reports of geriatrics and computerized nursing care plans.<br/>The population was 315 patients admitted in the period July 2010 to October 2011 with trauma pathology of the lower limb.<br/>In our midst we have detected a prevalence of ACS similar to that of other studies reviewed in the literature. Given the diagnostic difficulty, a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach is necessary, nursing personnel are essential for the prompt identification and implementation of care. |
