Summary, etc. Objetivos: valorar las consecuencias del retraso de la intervención quirúrgica. Favorecer el retorno a domicilio. Educación sanitaria al paciente y familia.<br/>Material y métodos: se trata de un estudio observacional, descriptivo y prospectivo. Se valoran 100 pacientes intervenidos de fractura de fémur, en el año 2011.<br/>Resultados: antes de la caída el 72% independientes. El 66% mayor de 80 años con buena calidad de vida (continencia urinaria, independientes para actividades diarias, viven solos, con soporte familiar o en casa de familia). El 21% con algún trastorno cognitivo. El 60% no toma anticoagulantes. El 37% intervenido antes de las 24h.<br/>Conclusiones: 1-Predominio del sexo femenino. 2-Descenso de pacientes independientes. 3-57% intervenidos antes de las 48h. 4-Solo el 28% alta a domicilio. 5-Aumento de pacientes con incontinencia urinaria.

Health education for the patient and family.<br/>Material and methods: this is an observational, descriptive and prospective study. 100 patients involved in femur fracture are assessed in 2011.<br/>Results: before the fall 72% independent. 66% over 80 years of age with good quality of life (urinary continence, independent for daily activities, live alone, with family support or in family home). 21% with some cognitive disorder. 60% don't take blood thinners. 37% intervened before 24h.<br/>Conclusions: 1-Predominance of the female sex. 2-Descent of independent patients. 3-57% intervened before 48h. 4-Only 28% high at home. 5-Increase of patients with urinary incontinence.
