Summary, etc. Introducción: El uso de alcohol y otros antisépticos para la cura del cordón umbilical está ampliamente extendido. No hay unidad entre los centros y profesionales sobre cuál es la mejor manera de realizar la cura del cordón umbilical. Objetivo: Revisar la evidencia científica disponible sobre la cura en seco del cordón umbilical Metodología: Revisión bibliográfica a partir de bases de datos en español y en inglés. Consulta de las páginas web de los organismos oficiales y asociaciones de profesionales de la salud. Conclusiones: No hay motivos para desaconsejar la cura en seco del cordón umbilical del recién nacido en nuestro medio.<br/>

Summary, etc. Introduction: The use of alcohol and other antiseptics for the umbilical cord care is widely spread. Medical centers and professionals do not have a common opinion regarding the best way to heal the baby’s umbilical cord. Objective: To review the available scientific evidence on the dry cord approach of the umbilical cord. Methodology: Bibliography review from databases in Spanish and English, references taken from official organizations and health professional associations’ websites. Conclusion: There are no reasons to advise against the dry cord approach as umbilical cord care of the newborn in our society.<br/>
