| Summary, etc. | Objetivo: Examinar el concepto de «dolor de parto» a partir del análisis de la bibliografía científica disponible, a fin de establecer sus atributos esenciales.<br/>Método: Se emplea el procedimiento de análisis de concepto descrito por Wilson tal como lo adaptó posteriormente Avant. Esta técnica sistematiza la clarificación conceptual en 11 pasos: del establecimiento de las preguntas de estudio a la determinación de los resultados en el lenguaje.<br/>Resultados: El concepto de «dolor de parto» se caracteriza como una experiencia multidimensional y única como respuesta fisiológica a un estímulo orgánico, que está influido por diversos factores internos y externos y cuyos elementos esenciales le son propios y lo distinguen de cualquier otro tipo de dolor.<br/>Conclusiones: Los resultados de este estudio aclaran el significado del concepto de estudio y contribuyen a difundir el conocimiento y el empleo de las técnicas de desarrollo y análisis conceptual entre las matronas de nuestro país. |

| Summary, etc. | Objective: To explore the concept “labour pain” by analyzing available scientific literature, to identify its essential components.<br/>Method: The procedure used is the Wilsonian technique as described by Avant. This systematized method of conceptual analysis includes 11 steps: from the posed research questions to the establishment of results in language.<br/>Results: The concept “labour pain” is featured as a multidimensional, unique experience in physiological response to organic stimuli, influenced by internal and external factors and with several essential elements that delineate it and differentiate it from other types of pain.<br/>Conclusions: The findings from this study clarify the meaning of the concept and disseminate the knowledge and use of concept development and analysis procedures among midwives in our country. |
