Summary, etc. La mialgia postejercicio (MPE) es uno de los problemas clínicos más comunes al que se enfrenta el fisioterapeuta que trata deportistas, procedentes de la practica de maratón, triatlón, etc. Su incidencia se sitúa entre un 30 y un 67 % no estando perfectamente demostrado su origen y sobre todo la efectividad de algunos tratamientos. La prevalencia en deportistas amateurs o elite no es conocida. Esta revisión intenta definir y clasificar la MPE, discutiendo su pato fisiología y aportando una propuesta actualizada de su prevención y tratamiento, mediante una revisión de la literatura científica existente en las bases de datos MedLine, Pedro, desde el año 1965 al 2003.

Summary, etc. Delayed muscular sorness, is one of the most common clinical problems encountered by PT who treat athletes at endurance events, specially marathon and triathlons. His incidence has been reported as high as 30 % to 67 % being his etiology, functional valoration and management not definitively elucitaded. The prevalent of MPE in recreational athletes and difference in rates in elite athletes is not well known. This review try to define and classify MPE, discuss his patho physiology and describe a systematic approach to updated treatment and prevenention by means a extensive review of papers and trials edited from 1965 to 2003, in MedLine, Pedro.
