Summary, etc. |

Summary, etc. |
The aim of this survey was to assess the influence of anthropometrics index in the postmenopausal women aged 45 to 65, with the different phases to the bone demineralization. The sample involved 52 women, which were divided in two groups, being osteoporosis group with the 23 women (58,2 ± 3,3 years old) and osteopenia group with 29 women (57,2 ± 6,1 years old). The anthropometrics assessment obtained data of the body composition (percent of fat mass, fat mass and fat free mass), of the distribution of body fat Waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), of the skinfold thickness of the trunk and the index of body mass. The statistic procedures used were the average, the standard deviation and the broadest variation. The analysis of the profile of distribution normality was carried out by the intermediary of the test of Shapiro-Wilk, it was used the "t" test from Students for independent samples measures and/or the Mann-Whitney U test. The association of different variables was carried out by the Pearson and/or Spearman correlation test. The statistic programs used were the SPSS 12.0. In the comparison between groups it was listed significant differences (p # 0,05) in the variable weight, index body mass, waist circumference, kilograms and percentage of fat mass, motivated by the higher values of the osteopenia group. It was concluded that a major index body mass, body weight and fat mass can have an important role in the prevention of Osteoporosis in these postmenopausal phase women, but there should be a balance between the amount of fat mass and lean mass to avoid future complications in metabolic and heart circulation diseases. |
